A valiant knock from Captain Amanjot Kaur, along with her economical bowling spell helped to snatch a thrilling seven-wicket victory against Odisha at Womens Under 23 T20 match played at Guntur (Andhra Pradesh) on 16 November 2019. This was the second win for Chandigarh team in four matches.
Earlier, Odisha won the toss and elected to bat first. Kashvee Gautam cleaned bowled Captain Anjali Singh for four in her first over. Amanjot took the prized wicket of Jena. Then, Shivani Thakur dismissed Shubra Swain for nine in 11th over with score being 60 for three on the board. Unbeaten Poonam Nayak contributed 30 along with Rani Tudu (13) to manage a total of 111 for five in stipulated 20 overs.
In reply, Chandigarh opener Nandini Sharma went to pavilion without opening her account, followed by Shivangi Yadav who was dismissed on 14. Chandigarh found itself in bit of trouble when Shivani Thakur was trapped lbw by Nivedita Naik for 3 and the score became 50 for three in ninth over. Unbeaten Amanjot Kaur (47 off 52 balls) and Kashvee Gautam’s run a ball play of 42 stitched 65 run stand to ensure the victory in second last ball of the match.
